How can you help?

We understand that hunger is a consequence of poverty. We also believe our community has the resources and generosity necessary to ensure that no person from the Mahone Bay area goes hungry. We need your help SHORING UP! the resources to support our communities become more vibrant, resilient and thriving.

You can donate directly to us via the ‘donate’ button at the top of this page, through our GoFundMe campaign, or by volunteering your time to help us:

Our Impact

Our Mission

To increase access to healthy food:
Currently we have provided 200+ meals monthly to people in need from November 2023 to August 2024. We want to continue providing these meals going forward in a dedicated space with a commercial kitchen.

To expand our service network:
All funds raised through fundraising campaigns and events will directly impact our ability to expand our services and to cover a larger service area as our capacity grows. Food insecurity is a serious issue in Mahone Bay, on the South Shore, and in communities across the province/the country at large.

To address food insecurity:
By transforming surplus, donated and funded foods into ready-to-eat meals, we can coordinate the delivery of healthy meals that are accessible to our clients, and that also meet their individual needs and/or dietary requirements/restrictions.

To engage our community and partner with other local organizations:
With help from you, our local community, we can shore up the resources necessary.

This includes: volunteer time, financial/food donations, community engagement, advocacy, etc.
As we grow, we will solicit feedback, identify gaps, and continuously improve as we learn and
target root causes for poverty on the South Shore. We will continue to partner with local organizations and food banks across Lunenburg County, like Food Vibes and We Feed Lunenburg. This will help us extend the range of services offered when we are ready and maximize resources available to the community.

To create a blueprint of our experiences:
In creating a blueprint and growth strategy, we will be able to help other groups start and/or expand their local support networks in surrounding areas on the South Shore and other parts of the province. Nova Scotia is the least food secure province in Canada - let’s work together to change this!
